What is a county in Kenya?
Understand the county as an area of devolved government and an electoral area for county-wide seats.
County government and representation
Article 6 and the First Schedule establish Kenya's counties. Each county has a county government made up of an assembly and executive under Article 176. County voters elect a governor, a Senator and a Woman Representative for their respective offices.
Counties contain constituencies and wards. A constituency MP represents a constituency in the National Assembly; an elected MCA represents a ward in the county assembly. A county name alone does not identify your MP or MCA.
