What does a Woman Representative do in Kenya?
Understand the county-wide Woman Representative's place in the National Assembly.
A county-wide National Assembly seat
Article 97 provides for forty-seven women elected to the National Assembly, one by the registered voters of each county. This is distinct from a constituency MP, a senator or a member of the county assembly.
Representation, legislation and oversight
As members of the National Assembly, Woman Representatives participate in its law-making, representation and oversight work. Their electoral area is the county, while the Assembly's responsibilities are national.
Assess a representative using documented parliamentary and public work. Campaign descriptions or a directory listing alone do not verify a project's completion.
