Biography

Dr. Bonny Khalwale is the Senator of Kakamega County, elected in the August 2022 general election on a United Democratic Alliance (UDA) ticket as part of the Kenya Kwanza coalition. A veterinary surgeon by training, he previously served as Senator of Kakamega from 2013 to 2017 and as Member of Parliament for Ikolomani Constituency from 2007 to 2013. He is widely known in Kenya for his vocal role in public-accountability debates during his earlier terms in Parliament.

Doctor of Medicine — University of Nairobi (1981–1987); A Level — Kakamega High School (1979–1980); O Level — Musinya High School (1975–1978); qualification — CPE (1974–Malinya Primary School)

Professional experience

Practising veterinary surgeon prior to entering elective politics; founder/operator of veterinary and agribusiness ventures in Kakamega County.
