Biography
Veteran politician, lawyer, and former Vice-President of Kenya (2008–2013). Founder and leader of the Wiper Democratic Movement. Has unsuccessfully contested the presidency in 2013, 2017 and 2022. Has publicly declared his intention to run again in the 2027 General Election. On 10 October 2025, at the Wiper National Delegates Convention at Uhuru Park, Nairobi, Kalonzo received the party's nomination certificate as its 2027 presidential flag-bearer. The same NDC ratified the party's rebranding from Wiper Democratic Movement to Wiper Patriotic Front. The launch was attended by DCP's Rigathi Gachagua, DAP-K's Eugene Wamalwa, PLP's Martha Karua and Jubilee's Fred Matiang'i, signalling a broad opposition coalition.

Practising lawyer and partner at Mutula Kilonzo & Kalonzo Musyoka Advocates (1980s). Has held leadership positions in the African, Caribbean and Pacific (ACP)–EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly.

Member of Parliament for Kitui North (later Mwingi North) 1985–2013. Minister for Foreign Affairs 1993–1998. Minister for Education 1998–1999. Minister for Environment & Natural Resources 2003–2004. Minister for Foreign Affairs 2003–2004 and again 2003–2005. 10th Vice-President of the Republic of Kenya, 2008–2013, under President Mwai Kibaki. Presidential candidate 2007 (3rd place, ODM-Kenya), 2013 (CORD running mate to Raila Odinga), 2017 (NASA running mate), 2022 (Azimio running mate).
