Biography
14th Chief Justice and President of the Supreme Court of Kenya (October 2016 – January 2021), best known internationally for the Supreme Court's historic 1 September 2017 ruling annulling President Uhuru Kenyatta's re-election — the first such judicial annulment in African history. On 18 June 2025, in an NTV interview, Maraga officially declared he will run for President in the 2027 General Election on the United Green Movement (UGM) ticket and was unveiled at UGM's Nairobi headquarters as party co-leader alongside ex-Ndhiwa MP Neto Agostinho. Born in present-day Nyamira County. His campaign is anchored on integrity, anti-corruption and constitutional restoration.
