Biography
Award-winning Kenyan photojournalist and human-rights activist. On 27 August 2025 — Katiba Day — at Ufungamano House in Nairobi, a venue symbolic of Kenya's good-governance struggle, Mwangi formally declared his 2027 presidential bid under the campaign slogan 'Mwanzo Mpya' (A New Beginning), pledging a 'third liberation' anchored on quality healthcare, free schooling, accountability for victims of state brutality, recovery of illegally-acquired wealth, and clean water access. Previously contested the 2017 Starehe MP race (placed third). Known internationally for his Picha Mtaani exhibitions documenting the 2007–2008 post-election violence.
